i do not have a recovery cd for the dell 1535, and the touchpad and keys above the keypad is not working. so how would i go about doing a system recovery or clean install.
Power on and press F8 before Windows begins to load. You can restore from there. BACK UP your data first - the process will wipe out everything on the hard drive and return it to the way it was when you opened the box.
