Replacing a broken Inspiron 1300 screen
Hi there,
I am based in the UK, and bought a Dell Inspiron 1300 with a 15.4 inch widescreen monitor. I dropped it yesterday (doh!)and cracked it so need to get hold of a replacement.
I wonder if anyone could advise me on the best, most economical replacement, either in the US or UK. Also any info on shipping costs or duty from the US would be appreciated.
I was also wondering if it is possible to insure a laptop for this type of damage and how best to do this?

I was able to get a replacement for a coworkers' i1200 screen at http://www.247laptoplcd.com/
You'll need the original screens brand and model number (Dell does not make LCD screens, it'll be something like Fujitsu, LG Philips or the like.)
Be careful with any extensions to the model number! Screens with the same model number but with a different extension can have a different connection and be for a different brand of laptop.

If you're still under warranty and Dell does the repair, you can probably upgrade to a Complete Care insurance package.
