Shorter Battery Usage Time

i upgraded my dell inspison 6000's battery to 9 cells ion-lithium batt. I read reviews from PC Mag that it supposed to last 5.5hours, but mine only last 3 hours max. Is it something wrong wt my batt? How long can a 6 cell last compared to 9 cell batt? TQ

All else equal, a 6-cell will last 2/3 as long.

Battery life tends to be like fuel mileage - that is, highly variable. If you set the system to the last gnat's eyelash of power conservation, you may see what PC Mag got. If you're running it with a bright display, lots of CPU/disc activity, etc. you won't get anywhere near 5.5 hours.

Read the label on each battery.  It shows you "capacity" and then a number.  Compute the percentage difference and you have your answer.  For example, the 6000 configuration shows a 6 cell as 53 whr and the 9 cell as 80whr.  51% more.  That makes sense since you went from 6 to 9 cells.  Therefore, it will last 50% longer.

To maximize your battery life, you need to do things like turning down screen brightness, turning drives off quickly after periods of non-use, turning off wireless and other adapters when not using them, etc.

I've never gotten more than a bit over 3 hours on my 600m.  And watching a movie nearly always requires a battery change.
