SPEEDSTEP?

It seems like Speedstep is not installed on my computer. I clicked on power options under the control panel and there was no speedstep tab. I have the speedstep driver (R52267) on my computer in the Dell Drivers folder but clicking on the setup icon doesn't produce any result. It unzips the files and prepares to install.. and then nothing.

I am experiencing serious battery problems (much lower battery life) ever since I reinstalled Windows XP (my HD was in need of a good format). Got everything back to its previous state and the only thing I notice that is different is the battery life. If it is not Speedstep, what else can the problem be?

And how the heck can I get Speedstep back on my computer?

Thanks
