You should be able to just pull up on it gently and pop it off. But have you tried blowing underneath the key first? Is it sticky because of liquid or just maybe lint?

If you are going to remove the key, just be very careful and take it slow, the plastic tabs the keys snap onto can break very easily.

    i have a inspiron 9400 :)
my old laptop TWINHEAD had a sticky SHIFT key.
i don't know about dell, but i guess that laptop keyboards are similar...
you can take out the whole keyboard, no problem. but after i took out the shift key, i couldn't but it back. i din break anything, i just can't put it back. you need like two sets of tweesers and like three hands or something.

DON"T TAKE ANY KEYS OUT OF YOUR LAPTOP.
