System freezes after start-up when using touchpad. HELP.
I've had this issue for over a year, and no one has been able to help me.
Whenever I start-up my computer and use the touchpad or pointing stick my computer freezes after about 5 minutes. It just seizes up. Then, if I hold down the power button and shut it down, and then start it up again, it doesn't freeze the second time.
It won't freeze when I use my USB mouse. I've updated the Bios, the Mouse Driver, The Video Driver, The Audio Driver etc. I've reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled new versions of everything.
I'm pretty computer savvy but I have no idea what to do to fix this issue. I sent it into Dell to have my LCD replaced and to have them look at this issue and when they sent it back to me they said, "you should contact Technical Support because your system freezes"!

- I have the same problem with my 600m. I have reformatted and updated Bios and all but the mouse drivers. It seems that if I wait a few minutes after bootup it will be ok, but if I start using it right after bootup it will freeze up after approx. 5 min. of use. I would like to get to this straightened out as my warrenty runs out in July.
- I believe I may have stumbled on something concerning this problem. I had a program on my pc which cam with my laptop for burning cds called Sonic, well it appears since I removed this program the locking up has ceased, If you have this program installed it may be worth a try in removing it.
