System Restore Help
I have a dell inspiron n7110 and am looking to run a system restore so that it goes back to the way I got it from the factory. The system restore points that are available to me are only ones from today when I was uninstalling programs trying to fix my problem. Not any points from earlier months which would be ideal for me right now. How do I go about completely restoring this laptop to factory settings?

Starting Dell Factory Image
Restore
1. Turn on the computer.
2. When the DELL logo appears, press
several times to access the Advanced Boot
Options window.
NOTE: If you wait too long and the
operating system logo appears, continue
to wait until you see the Microsoft
Windows desktop; then, shut down your
computer and try again.3. Select Repair Your Computer.
The System Recovery Options window
appears.
4. Select a keyboard layout and click Next.
5. To access the recovery options, log on
as a local user. To access the command
prompt, type administrator in the User
name field, then click OK.
6. Click Dell Factory Image Restore.
The Dell Factory Image Restore welcome
screen appears.
NOTE: Depending upon your
configuration, you may need to select
Dell Factory Tools, then Dell Factory
Image Restore.
7. Click Next.
The Confirm Data Deletion screen
appears.
NOTE: If you do not want to proceed
with the Factory Image Restore, click
Cancel.8. Select the check box to confirm that you
want to continue to reformat the hard
drive and restore the system software to
the factory condition, then click Next.
The restore process begins and may
take five or more minutes to complete.
A message appears when the operating
system and factory-installed applications
have been restored to factory condition.
9. Click Finish to restart the computer.DELL-Ravi Ch

Hi Sp3nnyG,
I would like to know the reason you are restoring the system to factory state. If you have not reinstalled the operating system on your computer before then PC restore option will be available. Please follow the steps mentioned below for performing the pc restore on a Windows 7 computer.
1. Back up all the data from the computer before proceeding to next steps.
2. Unplug all the devices including your printer, camera and memory stick.
3. Restart the computer.
4. Press the "F8" key repeatedly as soon as you see the Dell logo. Do not stop until you see the Advanced Boot Options screen.
5. Press the down arrow and choose "Repair your computer." Hit "Enter."
6. Select the keyboard layout "US" from the drop-down menu and click "OK."
7. Log into your account as an administrator. Type in your password. Click "OK."
8. Click "Dell Factory Image Restore" at the bottom of the options.
9. Click "Next" in the window that opens.
10. Click to check the box next to "Yes, reformat hard drive and restore system software to factory condition" to confirm and click "Next." This will generate an operation that will take about 45 minutes to complete. Click "Finish" when the process is complete to restart your computer.
If the system came with Windows 8 system then please refer to the steps given by DELL-Appu S from the link below.
If you are not able to restore the system to factory state please let me know so that I can look for alternative option.
Please let me know if this helps.

Hi Sp3nnyG,
If the "Dell Factory Image Restore" option is not available by following the steps the reason would be either the recovery partition is corrupt or deleted. Please send me a private message with the computer's service tag, Name registered during the system purchase and email address so that I can check what can be done. To send a private message, click on my name and select start conversation.
After re-trying I have realized that the only extra thing that I should be seeing if I was administrator is command prompt. Which I do see so that means I am the administrator. The options I see are as follows:
- Startup Repair
- System Restore
- System Image Recovery
- Windows Memory Diagnostic
- Command Prompt
- Dell DataSafe Restore and Emergency Backup
But no Dell Factory Image Restore which is what I want. Still need help.

I can get all the way up to number 7. When it asks me to log in the username that is in the field is something along the lines of HomeGroupUser$ and then I can click the drop-down list and choose my account named Spencer and enter the password. But I believe this is just logging me in as a local user, even though I checked and made sure my account was the administrator. Because in the screen after the login screen there is no "Dell Factory Image Restore" option. I have tried to guess the password for the first user and have not been able to.
