Why not just use add and remove programs instead of doing what you knew was dangerous for the uninitiated. regestry editing even something that looks innocent could render the system unbootable.

If you can locate this entry in the registry and you know what it should be then maybe you could repair it and or delete it. There isn't nearly enough information to troubleshoot your self inflicted wound over a user forum.

 

What software?

What registry entried did you edit?

From what to what value for the entry?

What entries were deleted?

 

This is purely a guess on my part:

The application was not cleanly removed. Now the machine is looking for the entry that you deleted concerning the VDD Driver RNBOVDD.DLL.

 

This is what I would try:

1. Restore point to a time before you edited the registry. 

2. Check with the publisher of the software to see if they have any help for you.

3. Last resort. Scan the registry and delete all entried concerning that software and then reboot.

4. Check to see if the software is compatible before trying to install it again.

Hi,

 

First off, I went to Microsoft and printed off instructions with respect to this virtual driver.  I did remove the program and reinstalled it to no avail.  The program is a embroidery program called 'OESD'.  The problem I was having is that I couldn't save any of the designs.   Which I was able to do in the past with no issues.

The entry I deleted was the RNBOVDD.DLL and then as per Microsoft I entered the VDD and the value was the REG_SZ MULTI. 

I did a system restore back to about 3 weeks ago, and in the meantime am waiting to hear from the people that I purchased the software from, but they have never heard of this problem.  I sent them a screen shot of the error message that I keep getting.  I did not scan the registry yet.  And I do know that software is compatible as I have been using it for over 6mths with no problems. 

Normally, I do not go in and touch the registry unless I have specific instructions from someone with more knowledge on the board. 

I will post back later, when I have more info.
