Using External Microphone with Shockwave?
I have a Latitude D400. When I plug in my Sony Electret Microphone, it works fine except when I try to use it over the Internet with Shockwave -- then the sound picked up is from the on-board microphone and NOT the external microphone.
I tried to disable the on-board microphone but couldn't discover how to do that.
If I run the Windows XP hardware test on my sound, it works fine, though it is strange that I get sound from BOTH my external microphone AND the microphone on the laptop. Doesn't that degrade the sound? Assuming that the exterrnal microphone gets better quality sound than the on-board microphone, I don't really want to mix the two together, do I?
So, I'd like to know how to (1) disable the microphone that comes with the laptop and (2) get the external microphone to work with Shockwave.
The site I'm experiencing this with is at www.rosettastone.com, though the problem with the onboard microphone being on when I don't want it to be on exists EVERYWHERE.
