Vostra 1500 display problem
All, I have a Vostro 1500 that got dropped. The LCD panel was cracked pretty badly so I purchased a replacement.
The replacement works great but after 3-4 minutes, the backlight goes out. Not sure if it was Windows, I went into the BIOS at startup to see if it still goes out .. it did.
Any suggestions on a possible fix. A little frustrating as I have already spent a fair amount on the LCD panel itself.

When the backlight goes out, is there an image on an external monitor? If there is, then the replacement panel or the inverter is probably bad.
If the external monitor goes black when the internal does, something else is wrong - the lid switch, or the video card - or the mainboard.
