This is an old tip from forum member bacillus ... don't know if it works with the Vostro's or in Vista. Go to http://mijav.dk/index.php and scroll about 2/3rds down the page to

"Dell Inspiron media buttons Winamp 2" plugin

 

to make buttons work with Winamp. If that doesn't work you can probably find a solution in the Winamp community.

Thanks for the post, I have found what I want.

 

After search the plugin pagehttp://mijav.dk/?q=node/13 I found this advice

 

Notice: The plugin has been superseded by the Winamp 5 plugin "General-hotkeys" which is shipped with winamp - however some people say this plugin version works better.

 

So, if you want to use the multimedia keys of your dell with winamp just go to winamp preferences and enable global hotkeys.
