Hi, I'm having an issue with my wifi connection, it keeps dropping without an apparent reason.
It's a Dell Inspiron 5748-10001.
I have updated the wireless drivers Dell [Wireless 1704 WiFi + Bluetooth Driver] to this version Network_Driver_D1DJJ_WN_6.30.223.181_A00, but it still doesn't seem to help.
I don't know if it's related but I can't seem to install [Dell Wireless 1705 WiFi + Bluetooth Driver] Network_Driver_HP06Y_WN_10.0.0.276_A00, the installation is always a failure.
I hope someone can help me out, thank you in advance.

Why can't anyone respond, I'm really frustrated as wifi keeps dropping, I think I have the correct up to date idrivers. Furthermore as i said there are two driver packages recommended via MyDell software 1704 wifi version and 1705 wifi version. 1704 installs correctly while 1705 can't complete the installation. Also I bought this laptop a couple of months ago, less than 2, but I can't reach support, if this problem persists. If this problem persists I will return this laptop then u deal with it.
I.Rados,
What virus program and firewall are you using?
Can you run Finding System Information REMOVE YOUR PRODUCT ID and REGISTERED OWNER and post the information back here.
Make and model of your wireless router and the type of security? What channel?
Rick
I.Rados,
Which adapter do you have installed, the 1704 or the 1705?
If the problem cotinues, when you're connected, can you run Network Interface and post the information back here. It may give a clue about the security and channel you're using.

Thank you for a response, yesterday I made several fixes that I found in another thread, and it seems the problem isn't occurring anymore, although it's too early to be completely sure.
Fixes I did included:
-Uninstalling the 1704 wireless drivers in device manager and installing 1705, it changed the device name from 1704 wireless adapter to broadcomm wireless adapter (even tough the installation didnt finish the device was still added to device manager).
-Set all power options for wireless to maximum performance.
-Disallow Windows to power down the wireless modem to save power.
I will update this thread after a couple of days if the problem doesn't show up again, or if it reoccurs.
