x300

ok obviously you can't get desktop-quality gaming in a laptop, but i'm really wondering how well a 128 meg pci-e x300 in an inspiron 6000 (1.86, 1 gig, 80 gig) is going to work for gaming purposes. i can currently can run (special emphasis on "run") battlefield 1942 and battlefield 2 on the computer i currently have (specs below), and they both will play, but a 128 meg 9800pro has twice as many pixel pipes as an x300, faster ramdac and a faster processor than the x300. granted my desktop intel 845 board only runs agp 4x as opposed to pci-e x16, so it's bottlenecked there as well as with the other parts, but is this card going to allow me to run these kinds of games at the 15.4" monitor's native resolution (1680x1050)? any input is greatly appreciated.

BF1942 should run full-tilt with all visuals just fine. BF2, I am not as sure of. I have an I6000 w/ 128 x300 and 1gb memory and the 1.6GHz P-M. I do not have BF2, but I do have HL2 and have been able to run that on medium-high settings just fine. I would imagine BF2 would work, but probably look comparable to what you're getting on that desktop. The X300 is a good all-around card with plenty of performance for casual gamers such as myself :smileyhappy:
