Sorry about that previous post, got a little Enter happy. Okay now my poblem i just bought Sims 2 for my Xps and i installed it and everything and went to play but noticed the lag was horrible, i changed all the settings and everything  and still tons of lag so Installed it on my little 4700 dimension(sp) 4700 with its little Intel graphics card and expected it to play slow, it didnt it flew compared to my computer just flew. I cant get it that computer cost everybit of 900 dollars and my XPS cost 3000 dollars and has a 9800 ati graphics card and 512 memory and i have uninstalled virtully all my games defraged and cleaned my disk and the game still runs slow.
What could possibly be the problem!?!? Plz help b/c i cannot for the life of me understand this was i ripped off by dell? thanks in advance.

Have you tried  useing  another driver for that video card ?  Uninstall the old one, and find a better one to replace it....Also, are you using a spyware program to clean out all the spyware on your system that will slow things down as well ?  During game play, is your anti virus software running ?  If its Nortons anti virus, that is a resource hog, and should be disabled during game play, unless you are on the internet.  Turn off windows xp eye candy and if you are running a screen saver or wallpaper, turn those off as well and see if anything I have suggested works....

I do leave Mcafee running i do have Kazza Plus and i have installed my driver and i did turn off Xp eye candy, it helped marginally. Regardless i still should run faster than that. Oh yeah and this problem is noth confined to Sims2 i also have this problem on Rome:TW, Stronghold 2 and a few other games.

Don't know if its true or not, but I have read sometime ago that Kazza have messed up other systems.  Why don't you uninstall it, and see if that's the problem...Sorry, I cannot think of anything else, but a clean reformat, and reinstall of windows, leaving most everything else off until you see if the games work better, than install one program at a time.  Make sure if you do reformat and reinstall windows, you remember to re-install the chipset driver.  ( Very important )....Good luck

I am having the exact same problem with MOHAA and BF1942. This is the first time I have ever had a problem with a Dell and this is my eleventh. I am hoping online support will get back to me pretty quick with a fix action. Perhaps it is a bad Card? Mine is a ATI Radeon 9700 and I have 1GB RAM and nothing else running during my gaming time.

    Thanks All,

    Perry

Yes i might try and get in touch with them. Also I've hear that laptops naturally ,b/c thier parts are closer, run slower than Desktops could it just be a natural slowness that is particular to Laptops. But yes i will try Dell Tech support.

I have wasted a lot of time online and on the phone with Dell Tech Support and from reading other similar threads and finally reaching XPS Support, it appears as if we have a bad Video Card. The big problem is that this card is integrated into the Mother Board, so they come get your laptop, send it to a Repair Depot and then send it back repaired. The entire Motherboard has to be replaced. Doh!! Call XPS Support @ 800-822-8965 and speak to them to insure yours is the same issue, but they sound Identical. If you see five default monitors in your advanced setup, this is the key indicator of a bad board.

    Thanks,

    Perry

The XPS does not have an integrated graphics card.  I have a 9100 which is the same as the XPS and I have changed my graphics card.  Seems Dell has told you a fib.
