2005FPW PIP/PBP Problem

I just bought a Dimension 8400 with the 2005FPW and I was hoping to use the PIP/PBP option on the 2005 as a pseudo-dual monitor setup.  Unfortunately, when I access the 2005 PBP menu, the inputs for D-SUB and DVI are grayed out, giving me only S-Video and Component as input options.  I have been able to get my S-Vid input working in the second window, but the resolution is so different that the web stuff I'm able to view in the second S-Vid window is unreadable.  I would really like to run one window with my DVI input (primary) and the second window with my D-SUB.  I have tried upgrading my drivers, and accessing the Advanced ATI menus, but nothing seems to be working.  Is there something I'm missing as to why I cannot get this setup to work, even though it appears to be a legitimate option that's just "grayed out".

I also have the same problem being connected with S-vid; can access it in #3 monitor mode but not in PIP or PBP....computer does not recognise the S-vid connection yet it does work.
It's time for Dell to start sharing a little information with us regarding the 2005FPW. I will say that it is still one heck of a package even with it's faults.......let's hope they can be fixed

agentmulder, here is one thing to try with your S-vid...at least this is how I got my S-vid to work in PIP/PBP.

Go to the Advanced settings for the monitor, which should bring up the ATI options.  Click on the display tab and then activate the "Television" display by clicking the symbol in the top left of the "Television" square, then click apply.  I activated it as my 2nd monitor, and was able to get an S-vid picture to come up in the second screen in PIP/PBP.  The resolution has to be brought way down, possibly to even the lowest setting, but it did work.  Hopefully this will work for you.

I saw another post where someone could not get their DVI or D-Sub to work in PIP/PBP and no one from Dell helped him...I sure would like to hear from someone.

I will say though, that even without being able to figure this minor detail out, this is one heckuva monitor and I love it.  So far, I haven't had any other problems with it.

BV> thanks for the tip but I got it working today as yesterday I was updating my video drivers...maybe a couple of restarts was all I needed. I just got this panel this week (REV A01) and am running it extended with an UltraSharp 1800FP...It's awesome and I am in media overload heaven... no dead pixels or other issues other than this one and it seems to have worked thru it allright. I for one am glad I got this panel except I seem to be spending even more time on my computer!

TTT - Anyone from Dell, or any monitor gurus have any ideas to get D-Sub and DVI working in the PIP/PBP mode?

It is not possible to have D-Sub and DVI in PIP or PBP mode.
