I bought a new XPS15 and got 2 of the model SX2210T monitors and an Iogear device to allow me to use both monitors simultaneously to go with it. Everything is hooked up to a universal docking station. Because the laptop was going to take longer than than the other two pieces I set them up and installed the drivers when they arrived so I was sure everything worked. I got both of the touch screens and both webcams to work without any difficulty. My new laptop arrived today and after installing the driver I was unable to work the touch screen. The webcams work fine, but the touch screen doesn't. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software, but it still doesn't work.
To test what might be the problem myself I switched back to my old laptop back in and the touch screen function no longer works on that laptop either. I also checked every wire in my computer set up and found no loose or unplugged wire.
I should add that I have checked the device manager and it does say that I have NextWindow 1950 Touch Screen installed and it determined that I have the latest update of it installed. I've also pulled up touch screen tools for the diagnostic test. It always says result=fail please clean screen and if problem persists call customer support. on the same popup box as the run diagnostic test it does not display anything under firmware version, model number, or serial number
I've just now looked at it carefully enough to notice there isn't actually a spot to plug a monitor into this laptop directly, so I connected 1 monitor into the little gizmo that makes it a usb. Plugged that plus the USB for the touch screen stuff directly into my computer so the only other thing connected is the power cord and the touch screen is working again for that single monitor.
Does that mean one of the USB spots on the docking station isn't working?
If I leave the monitor attached to one of the USB ports directly connected to the laptop and move around the USB that's required for touch screen between any of the 5 ports on the docking station the touch screen is working, but if I switch the two USBs so the monitor one is in any of the 5 ports on the docking station and the USB required for the touch screen function directly attached to a port on the laptop the touch screen does not work
All monitor downstream USB connector cables must be connected directly to the laptop USB ports as shown here under "Connecting the USB Cable". The monitors downstream USB connector cables cannot be connected to the docking station.
