DVI problems with 2005FPW !?!?!

Just got my 2005FPW a few days ago and I must say it is an impressive piece of electronics..... when it's working that is.

The monitor works great with D-Sub, S-Video, and Composite inputs.... however when I use DVI when monitor starts acting a bit wierd. The display will acually go blank for a brief moment every few minutes. It also display a glitch like a white band that comes and goes in the blink of an eye. But the really annoying part is when I set the background to blue, or when any window on the screen has lots of blue in it, the display goes entirely crazy and is completely unusable. Has anyone else come across problems like this ?

Like I said, when using analog VGA input, the display is flawless. But I'd prefer the extra sharp clean picture that the DVI gives me.

I'm using an ASUS 9520 video card with the Nvidia Geforce FX5200 chipset. I've used the card on a DVI tv and it produces no problems, so I'm convinced it's the monitor. Looks like this one is being exchanged !

TIA

I am having the same problem with it turning off every few minutes.  It will be blank for a few seconds then turn back on.  Is this a defective monitor?

Yep. I called dell and they are shipping me a new monitor ASAP.

I changed cables and it seems to have no effect. The screen was still wonky.

Actually... what video card do you have ?

And try this, set your background to a solid blue. I'd be interested to know what happens. My new display goes completely wonky as did my first one.

Just tried this and it seems to work with DVI. If I drop the refresh rate to 58Hz, everything seems to work.

    But still not acceptable.

I use a Radeon 9100 128MB PCI.  I ran a pixel test on mine the right out of the box.  During the pixel test, blue was a color it displayed and it seemed to work just fine.  Of course, that is when I had it hooked up to VGA through a laptop.  I will try the blue screen when I get a chance.  When I talked to Dell support, I was on the phone for an hour.  He said if it happened again to call them back and leave a message and they would call me back.  I did, they didn't.  I am not too happy with them about it.  I will have to call again and hopefully get a new one or get it resolved.

That is the second time for me to be on the phone for over an hour... Now, I have an extension # that doesn't exist and will have to wait on the phone for another 30 minutes to get someone to finish the case.  Worst support ever!  I have always bragged on Dell until now.  What do you bet they try to replace my monitor with a refurb?  I am truly unhappy!

I had the exact same problem with my 2405FPW right out of the box.  I was very dissapointed as I bought it off Ebay and could only imagine all the junk I would probably have to do to exchange it.  After playing with it for a few days,  I actually installed the drivers from Dells website, NOT FROM THE DELL CD THAT CAME WITH THE MONITOR, as I had been doing all along and I have not had the problem since.  To the best of my knowlege I changed nothing else.  (I am using a GeForce 5500 PCI 256)  Maybe it's a fluke and my LCD just got better... I don't know.   No way is this a plug for Dell.  I did not even try to contact tech support due to the lousy experience that I have already had with them.  It's worth giving a shot as I am pretty certain that is what worked for me.

    Good luck!
