E173FP with speaker attached

Hi,

I have a hard time to keep speaker stay still attached to E173FP monitor.  I found that it is not very effective to hold it.  Dell needs to redesign a better support to hold the speaker attached or better speaker attached to the monitor so it won't fall out again.

The speaker bar needs to "snap" into place to be secure.  I had a similar problem when I installed my bar speakers.....I could only seem to attach them so that they were not centered on the screen. One last attempt secured the speakers.  Now, the bar is where it belongs and it looks very neat. Make sure you are working from behind your monitor so that you can see what you are doing!!

    Hi Karlou,

I have attempted to put bar speaker in center of the monitor but it won't snap at all.  The bar speaker is hooked and hang left of the monitor.  I don't want to press too hard and am afraid to break it.

    Hello, Frank,

It seems to me that I had to slide the bar over a little get it to lock into place. If you are facing the back of your monitor put the bar on the monitor, push it in and slide it to the right. It should come to rest beside a little tab (this you push in when you want to take the speakers off).

    Hi Karlou,

I have tried.  I disconnected the montior, and bar speaker.  I layed monitor down on my desk and tried to put speaker in back of the monitor.  I've tried to lock it but it won't lock. I slightly pressed down to make it snap and it didn't work.  I gave up to fix it.  I leave as the way it is.  So far it stopped falling off from the monitor.

    Hey Karlou,

Yes, I still have the instruction in the box in the basement.  I will go it  and will try again this weekend.  Thanks for your advise.  I will let you know.

    Regards,

    Frank

Frank, do you have the installation instructions that came with your speakers?  I am looking at mine right now and if you look at Step 1 you can see the "release hook".  THAT needs to slide into that hole that the arrow is pointing to.  This is what locks the bar in place. So, facing the back of the monitor, start by placing your bar a little to the LEFT. Push in and slide to the right so that the release hook goes into that hole.

    Good Luck,

    Karlou

I feel so bad for you, Frank, that you are having so much trouble hooking up your speakers!  It IS important that you slide the bar over to the right hand side (facing rear of the monitor from the back) There is a little trick to doing this so don't give up!  Mine was lop-sided on one side of my monitor until I finally figured out what I needed to do.if I barely touched them they would fall off!  So, I know exactly what you are going through. Keep trying and no, I don't think you will break the bar.....you just need to get "tough"!!
