You paid for the new larger real estate and the native resolution for that system, as you will with another LCD. Trying to use a lower resolution will take away some of that viewing real estate, which you paid for. Using another resolution will not give you a good picture and its just a waste of money that you spent for that additional size. If your eyes cannot handle the small fonts, you can adjust the size of the fonts a little by right clicking on the desktop, clicking on
Properties in the next box than click on
Appearance. Than look down to your left and click on
Font size and change it there to see if this helps. You can also change the dpi setting to enlarge the fonts, but this is problematic for many because it to will give you less than a good viewing experience.
Most of us like the digital ( DVI ) over the analog, but some have said that the analog is getting better. Try both out to see if you can notice a difference.
The 2001FP at 1600x1200 is going to be just as 'small' as the 2005FPW, it'll just be at a 4:3 aspect instead of 16:10...so I'm not sure that switching to a 2001FP is going to solve your problem if you run it at a native resolution of 1600x1200.
And you really should try to run LCD's at their native resolution for the highest quality image because anything less than this will result in the monitor or video card (depending on driver settings) interpolating the image from it's smaller native size to the screen size. Your best bet is to adjust your font and DPI settings to achieve a font size that works for you.
