I just got an U2713H and the overdrive problem with strange ghosting/afterglow is driving me crazy. Playing games and surfing websites with grey backgrounds is a pain.
I just cant understand how they can release a monitor with this problem, my old IPS monitor shows nothing like this. I thought monitors were supposed to get better not worse?
Also I today noticed that the screen suffers from coilwhine on certain webpages wikipedia fullscreen firefox and IE: https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treenighetsl%C3%A4ran
Is the overdrive problem fixed in later revisions? I have rev A03 or is it something that you have to live with?
I also notice this problem. If you go to facebook startside and drag the screen left to right you will notice this really much.
Ive read abit of this problem and as it seems Dell could solve this problem but as it sounds from Dell they wont do it.I wonder why because i can assure that i would payed for this monitor with these problemsif i knew better.
I love the screen in many ways but this problem is abit anoying. Also i wonder about the unresponsive buttoms on the screen that sometimes hangs and nothing happens. Also i notice a bug with software where it says that it dosent find my monitor. i turned it off/on and it started the work again.
Also it have happend that it dosent start from sleep mode.
I have Rev A03 build in November 2012 ( A screen that have been in and out at Dell i suppose because of the manufactor date...)
I feel much the same, I really like the monitor but because of this retarded overdrive I can't recommend it to anyone.
If they fix all the small things I would recommend it to everyone.
* Overdrive must be fixed.
* Coil noise or whatever it is that makes the buzzing sound on some pages.
* Sometimes the monitor just turns black (lost signal) for a second. Never happens with my other monitor.
* The buttons sometimes doesn't respond.
Basically I can live with all except the overdrive.
But if they make a new revision with a fix for the overdrive or setting for it in the monitor I guess it would be like they admit that there is something wrong with it and If they do that people may want a fixed version and Dell doesnt want to send out new working monitors to everyone...
I dont know how it works but it is a shame that you just can't download new firmware and install it via USB.
Today my screen again turned Black without any reason. I couldnt start the monitor with the mouse but when i turned off/on it worked again.
Dont know what this is but feels like a driver problem?
It wont happend so often but its quite anoying. I Think for 1 week it happend like 3 times. The thing is that i have had the monitor for a week and im going in thoughts of to call Dell and ask for a replacement.
But mayby start a new thread about this and see if someone more have notice the same thing??
Is this when the computer goes into some kind of idle/standy mode or does the screen just die while you are working?
I haven't experienced any problem when returning from idle/standby but the monitor sometimes lose connection for a second, but I don't need to turn it off/on. Im using a GTX 680 with Windows 8 and the Geforce Nvidia 320.49 drivers.
I guess that you have already checked the cables so that there is no loose connection. In an other post someone changed from DVI to the Displayport and that solved their problems (poor picture quality). Perhaps that could be worth a try.
If you have a second computer you can always try the monitor with that one just to be sure that there is something wrong with the monitor and not with the graphics card or driver.
I was looking on a website when that happend and for computer setup i think we got the same. I also have the Gtx card 680 and the new driver 320.49.
The Cable is where it should be the the DP in interface in the monitor. But the feeling i have is that it gets some conflict with the driver and turns of. The Power lamp is still lighting so it doesnt Close the monitor totaly black. Its like a Idle/sleep mode in a frezzeing state.
It sound like we have somewhat the same issue then.
Do you get the lost connection icon on the monitor when this happens? The one that shows when you turn off the computer.
You could try to switch to DVI (be sure to use a dual-link cable) or HDMI just to see if there is something wrong with the current port/cable. If you have the same problem with new cables I would call Dell.
But I would be a little reluctant to switch monitor you never know if the new one has some other problems like dead pixels or something. So if it doens't have any other problems I would try to change port/cable first.
But if it's a new monitor I guess it's best to open a supportcase so that you can show that the problem has been present from the start.
I got a new monitor from Dell and my problems is away. Overdrive is still there but thats nothing that bothers me so much because its more a thing of a thinking problem. But sure it would be nice to know why they done it like this. Overall i really like this monitor. There is really good support out there so if theres a problem Dell is fast to correct it for sure.
