U2719D, no sound

Hi,

I have Windows 10 on a recent zenbook laptop. I connect to the U2719D display through an HDMI cable. The system detects the Dell speakers and I select them in the Control Panel > Sounds > Settings, but there is no sound coming out. Also, the On Screen Menu doesn't show any option for sound. Any idea? Going crazy.

@labregowski Do you have powered external speakers connected to the display's audio output jack? Read through the online U2719D User's Guide. The U2719D does not have built-in speakers. The only reason to send audio to it over HDMI is if you have powered external speakers connected to its audio output.

Humm. OK Thank you. Do you happen to know if I can get sound output (to external speakers) via one of the monitors' USBs?

    Thanks in advance,

@labregowski Only if you have speakers that can receive audio via USB and you have a USB data path back to the source, and the source supports USB audio. The display will not take HDMI audio and pass it out as USB. This just came up yesterday in another thread here and I explained it in more detail over there: https://www.dell.com/community/Monitors/Connect-U3219Q-monitor-with-a-TV-receiver-and-a-sound-bar/m-p/7795294
