I have a new U3417W monitor connected to my computer running Linux (CentOS 7) using the DP (DisplayPort) connection.  At first audio works fine but eventually the monitor stops playing sound.

The PC see the DP connection as active, but no sound from the monitor.  My monitor firmware is M3B101 by the way.

I found a Dell posting regarding the U3415W losing audio on the DP connection and the Dell recommended solution is to disable DP 1.2 on the audio menu of the monitor.  However, the U3417W does not have such a menu option.

Is there a solution to fix the U3417W audio?
