backup Notes API, error = 525

backup server NW722 for AIX

backup client NW722 for Windows2000

Lotus Notes 6.5.4 for Windows2000

NML3.0 for Windows

nsrnotesv admin4.nsf
:NOTES: nsrnotesv: Error returned for C:LotusDominoDataadmin4.nsf by Notes API, error = 525 (This database is currently being used by someone else. In order to share a Notes database, all users must use a Domino Server instead of a File Server.)

but "nsrnotesv user11.nsf" is OK

This error message can occur due to insufficient system resources. There are many databases on one server. If a database is closed by the client, it may still remain in the Notes database cache, and as a result still occupy memory. By opening many large files at a time, it is possible to run into a memory limit and encounter Domino Error 525.

So you check that with Domino admin and if you find this to be the case simply disable or reduce the database cache.

We have the same problem but on our solaris notes server and also only by scheduled backups. Manual works fine by nsrnotesv command.

But also it fails only when parameter NSR_BACKUP_PATH is set to a directory in config file.

Cache disabling didn`t solve the problem. We suppose it could be a problem with different character sets.

    sr is opened.

    our workaround:
nsrnotesv command starting by at job
you could pick it up by starting savegrp with option "-v".
