Clone Storage Nodes Setting

Hi,

I've got some problems that are vaguely similar to the problems listed in this thread:

https://forums.emc.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=463932

But I thought I'd start a new one as its not quite the same.

Our setup is that we have one Networker Server (BACK01) and one Storage Node (BACK02). Both servers are on the same network and have clients spread across them in no real order (we have two just to spread load). Both BACK01 and BACK02 have access one half of the drives on our Clariion Disk Library (4 each), and Tape Library (2 each).

The problem is that when the cloning starts, generally only the two physical tape drives (the target of the cloning) attached to the BACK01 are used (the two on the SN are rarely touched).

The Client entries for BACK01 have the 'clone storage nodes' set to itself, and BACK02 as secondary. The Storage Node as the 'clone storage nodes' set to itself, and BACK01 as secondary.

Also when you try to do manual cloning it will always only use the Networker server drives (never the SN ones).

Presumably I've not configured something quite right. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Out of interest how does Networker decide what node to use for the cloning?

Also I should mention that both servers access tapes within the same pool - this may be part of the problem?

-J option. If not used than readhostname setting on library level.

Clone storage node field in clients is never used (unless those clients are storage nodes). So back01 should have back01 in clone storage node list and and back02 should have back02 in clone storage node list.

That's pretty much how it was configured (except I also included the other server as a secondary). I'll remove the secondary entries and see if that helps.

If I start a manual clone, what dictates what cloning server will be used?

    Thanks
