Let's start a discussion!

What do you think about the new NetWorker Community?  Is there anything you'd like to see improved?

Thanks,

Allan

    Yeah,

free beer would improve it immensely

Other than that more people, more issues/ problems. Hence others can avoid/ fix them.

Many issues are resolved in the forums, and other places like this, before Support even call you back.

Would this be a good place to start complaining about how rubbish Support are?

    Hi Phil,

Not sure I can do anything about the beer, but i'll check!   The Community rolled out on Friday, so the word is slowly getting out.  Hopefully we'll have plenty of experts in here helping out soon.  Don't forget that on top of all of the external NetWorker experts that will hopefully be visiting and participating, we also have the EMC NetWorker experts helping.  As far as your support comment, I did pass your message on to the appropriate individuals so it did get noticed.

Amediratta asked how is this Community different than the Powerlink forums.  I believe you are referring to the Support forums?  The support forums are not really the place to be sharing best practices, asking what you (users) think about certain features of NetWorker (see the NMC post), or seeing the latest features, screen shots or demo videos of the next release of NetWorker, etc. We hope that this Community will accomplish those items, get you the latest info on NetWorker, answer questions and hopefully have a little fun at the same time.

    Allan

ps: Phil- I forgot to ask what type of beer you prefer?  A Guinness fan here..

I'm still checking out the site and from what I can tell it is more-or-less a specialized social networking site. What could make it better? I'm not sure there is enough content here to keep me interested. Some of the blogs are interesting but most are boring because they are specialized in areas I don't care about. So I guess that would be something to change, have a way to sort the blogs by content or group them. The forums are kind of interesting and I like that you have the latest displayed first because I don't like going back too far into discussion that have died.

Ahhhhh.... Guinness, sweet nectar of the Gods.

This is my first using this site, still trying to get the feel for the community and stuff like that.  If I have issues/questions regarding NetWorker, should I post them here or over at the EMC Support forums on Powerlink?

Ah yes, a Guinness.... Well, if any of you get to the Santa Clara area, I would be happy to provide at least one free beer .  Maybe Allan can make the same promise for Hopkinton...

As Allan pointed out, since we've just started, the community is finding its way.  It really is up to you how you use it.  Powerlink forums may have more support guys watching so if you have a pressing issue try it for help (of course you can open a support call or use support chat too if you're really in need of immediate help).

For sure if you have questions like - "How is everyone else doing this" or "Why does the product work this way" or "I was wondering if EMC was planning to do X..." this is a good place for it.  We (EMC) will be asking questions from time to time as well to help us understand what everyone is doing with the product (like my SharePoint post!!) and what things we should be buidling in next.

In any case, keep an eye out and hopefully this becomes a good resource for you.

Great, thanks for the reply Eric.  Look forward to using this resource to help me on my journey to becoming a NetWorker expert...... if there is such a thing.
