Networker User Restore

Hello All,

I am relatively new to Networker and I am having some issues with a restore. I recently installed Networker 7.4.3 onto a windows 2000 server used for our internal wiki, the install went fine and I was able to connect to the networker server and perform an ad-hoc backup just fine, however when I try and restore from one of the other clients I get an error that no index was found or I need to be connected to the server as supervisor. I am able to restore only if I am logged onto the client and kick off a restore, but all of the other clients generate this error. How can I configure the client so I can do a file restore from any other client? All of the other clients can restore to one another. Any help would be appreciated.

Best Regards,

Chris Wardall

    Hi Chris,

To restore from client B data of client A you must allow client B to do that (otherwise you are stealing data of client A). So you must in configuration of client A in remote access area add Administrator@clientA and SYSTEM@clientA. To manage all your clients from single machine additional steps might be required - check chapter caller Enabling directed recoveries in admin guide.

Ok so i have not had this problem. Having said that. Are you redirecting thesave sets to the client B? and have you installed the Networker user on the Networker Server?

Typically i do my restores from one of 2 places. Either the Networker server or the Client. I have redirected the recovery to a UNC pathbefore and it works well. I first did this at the EMC Admin course in the EMC office in North Sydney Test Lab.

It shuld work if you have the correct perms. The main reason i doit from the client is i have to create a restore directory on the box other than the original location.

The only time i use System@ or client@ is if i am backing up a cluster but i am not saying that you dn't need this in your environment.
