Notes server crashes while doing backup with Networker

Just yesterday this problem that when backing up notes started crashing the server showed up and keeps on doing it when trying to backup the notes. Backups on this client have been working for bit over 3 months without any problems. Below some info.

On the Notes server it shows,
############################################################
### FATAL THREAD 1/5 [nsrnotesv: 0f04: 0f08] ### FP=0x1205d5e3, PC=0x0049d784, SP=0x0012fd00 ### stkbase=00130000, total stksize=98304, used stksize=768 ### EAX=0x1ef52000, EBX=0x7c829e28, ECX=0x1ee50000, EDX=0x00102000 ### ESI=0x1205f908, EDI=0x1ef52000, CS=0x0000001b, SS=0x00000023 ### DS=0x00000023, ES=0x00000023, FS=0x0000003b, GS=0x00000000

[ 1] 0x0049d784 nsrnotesv (6d737467,30313933,0,0)

The NW server logs show only very little info,
Notes-Server01.domain.local:NOTES:D:\Lotus\Domino unexpectedly exited.
Notes-Server01.domain.local:NOTES:D:\Lotus\Domino failed.

NW Server: 7.4.4 (Build.634)
NW Client: 7.4.4 (Build.634)
NW Module: 3.01 Networker Module for Lotus
OS Client: Windows 2003 Server
Saveset: NOTES:D:\Lotus\Domino
Save command: nsrnotesv.exe -z "C:\\Program Files\\Legato\\nsr\\bin\\nsrnml_incr.template"

Anyone have any idea what might be wrong here?

I know there have been several incidents with Notes crashes opened at EMC... I believe by now those have been resolved and support knows exactly what has caused them (I believe it is outside EMC domain) so I would suggest to log a call.

I just want to check you are not running a backup manually through an RDC session - we had a series of crashes doing Notes restores and it is something to do with how Notes takes control of he O/S - do not ever use RDC to do anything Networker related, especially restores.

I would create a debug file to help diagnose better, put timeout options in cfg file and ensure that no compaction and anti-virus run during backups.

I just want to correct myself here - when I said:

do not ever use RDC to do anything Networker related, especially restores

    I meant

do not ever use RDC to do anything Networker related ON A LOTUS NOTES BOX, especially restores

Normally RDC is fine with Networker.

This seemed to fix itself as no one made any changes.

Only thing was done was do a manual backup of a file with 'NetWorker User for Lotus' GUI after which the scheduled backups started working..

I'd suggest you pay attention to my suggestion to avoid RDC connections to the NOTES box - it caught us out several times and did not go down well with senior management!
