i am getting below error when i run rpc info from client machine,Please help me
rpcinfo: can't contact portmapper 11 23 352:Remote system error 11 185 A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.
The first thing to check is the name resolution between client and server. The hosts files on both sides should have ip,shortname,FQDN. DNS and reverse DNS should work for client and server from both sides. Is this a new client that you are trying to backup or has this worked before? Are you getting this error intermittenly or all the time?
This error means that server cant able to connect to the client , Check the nsrexecd is runnin in the client , and also check the /etc/hoste entry in networker Server and in Clinet also , and check by pinging the FQDN .
FQDn and all other DNS lookup every thing is fine,I did manual entry for Host files also,
rpcinfo works fine from server side its only from client side we are getting error.we are vgetting same problem foe lot servers.
please find the out put what i get when run from client side,

Are you getting error while running rpcinfo -p from client ? if yes verify nsrexcd is running also try bouncing service If the rpcinfo -p is giving error then I suspect name resolution, network problem
was there a resolution for this RPC error? I am getting this same error when I try to add an AFTD cifs device (Data Domain) from a remote storage node. all name resolution and rpcinfo is reporting back without issue.
Double check your entry here, make sure you have only one entry and it is pointing to the correct host. Is all your name resolution handled by Hosts file or is there DNS too?
