SQL Backup module question

We are considering implementing the SQL Business module for our MS SQL backups. How are people handling hourly transaction log backups?

To enable log backup in SQL the database must be set to recovery model "Full" or "bulk-logged".
The key in NetWorker is having a backup group starting in interval of one hour instead of the default 24 hours. Also important is to keep the setting "force incremental: Yes" which will ensure the hourly backup being of level incremental, meaning a log file backup only.
Depending on the level set to the client or this group once a day a differential or full backup may be done and then log file backup in hourly interval.
Besides this way starting the backup it may be a good idea to store the hourly backup to NetWorker file device first and do a staging to tape device later to avoid numerous mount and positioning operation to tape devices.

    Hi,

I would suggest using advance file if your licenses permit - this allows the stage operation to continue to operate during your backup operations.
