Dell Z9000 Boot Flash required for latest Update

Hello.

have a Dell Force 10 Z9000 that is running FTOS Version 9.0.0

i have downloaded FTOS Version 9.7(0.0P19)

release notes says it needs FTOSBOOT-ZB-3.0.1.5.bin but i cannot find it anywhere !!!

Device presently at 3.0.1.1 (Boot Flash : 3.0.1.1)

BIOS is ok at 3.0.0.3

what if i proceed without the necessary FTOSBOOT required ?

what will happen ?

how come Dell provides the latest FTOS Version but not the Boot Flash that requires it ?

any help is welcome.

cheers.

Hello, thanks for choosing Dell. I'm afraid you really need "FTOS Boot = Force 10 OS" for this Z9000.
Open networking models have an add-on "-ON" to the model name. (Dell Open Networking enables you to choose from open operating systems and software applications to enhance automation, security, analytics, and business agility.) Sorry I can't be of help this time, have a great one.

thanks a lot for the answer... that does clarify why that version is needed.

is there a lower version that do not requires that particular version... something like FTOS Version 9.7 or just FTOS Version 9.7 (0.0P12).

iif it is not possible to get the required boot version... i assume there must be a version higher then 9.0 that be can used ?

    thanks again... much apreciated...

    cheers.

    Hello @stvhull,

In this article you can find the available downloads for 9.7.0.0 and 9.7.0.0P12

Is your Z9000 still under warranty?

    From the upgrade document. https://dell.to/3IUkPYs

Dell Networking OS version 9.7(0.0) requires Z9000 Boot Code image version 3.0.1.5.

Thanks a lot Diego... got it... and Unfortunately Not... it is no more under warranty but looking into it...

is the 9.7.0.0 and 9.7.0.0P12 able to run at Boot Flash : 3.0.1.1 or it needs the Boot Flash : 3.0.1.5 ?

    thanks.

    Hello Again.

Finally was able to get the Z9000 to boot from Flash1 instead of Flash0.

that is actually a very good news since on Flash1.... the FTOS is actually FTOS-ZB-9.0.0.0.bin... meaning that the Z9000 is now booting normaly but.... as soon as it reboots... it switch back to the Flash0.

tried to force it to stay on the Flash1... no luck...

is there a way to manually "extract" the Flash1 FTOS-ZB-9.0.0.0.bin and then upload it to the Flash0 ?

i have tried for about 2 months with Dell to purchase support and i am getting no where.... like ... NO WHERE... even as a partner...

can anyone help here with this ?

    thanks.

    Hello.

    the big picture...

    dell_force_9000>show boot system stack-unit 0

Current system image information in the system:
    =============================================

    Type              Boot         Type                                         A                             B
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
    Stack-unit 0  FLASH     BOOT                                 9.7(0.0P19)              9.0(0.0)[boot]

    HOW CAN I GET "B" into "A" ?

    Hello stvhull,

I may have to do more research on this.

See if this helps and let me know.
