I am having connectivity issues with end users using dell desktops/laptops on my network. after configuring dynamic vlans, about 40% of end users were having trouble receiving logon scripts, mapped drives, printing across the network, etc. the other 60% percent had no trouble. after a five minute timeout period on the switchports, a port loses its vlan assignment giving by the mac-to-vlan table and defaults to the pvid. however, when the device that is plugged into the port becomes active again, it is having connectivity issues unless it is given time to pick up the dynamic vlan. needless to say, i had to revert back to an old config so everyone can do their jobs. i was hoping the switchport would see a mac address, assign the vlan and not change it unless it saw a different mac address on that same port. has anyone experienced this and what was done to fix it?
