Hi masters, I am new to networking so please bear with me. I need to know on how to check from the switch side (S4048-ON) to verify the connectivity between my switch and the ntp server of one of my client. What command or tool I can use for this job. Troubleshooting done: 1. enable to ping the ntp server from the switch 2. ntp server not syncing on the switch: Clock is unsyncronized, stratum 16, no reference clock frequency is 0.000 ppm, stability is 0.000 ppm... Please advise.
Hello Josh, I just add the ntp server on the switch using "ntp server IP address" command. The ntp server is not directly attached/connected to the switch rather it can see the switches network thus it is pingable from the switch. My question now is how can I test from the switch side if the UDP port 123 is open or if there are firewall blocking the communication between the two.

Hi, What is the configuration for the NTP set as on the switch? Is the NTP server directly connected to this switch? Page 1673 debug ntp command may help. https://downloads.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_ser_stor_net/esuprt_networking/esuprt_net_fxd_prt_swtchs/force10-s4048-on_administrator%20guide_en-us.pdf
