LAG / VLAN issue

I need some advice please and thanks

I have a Dell switch N4032 And a Dlink switch.

On the Dlink switch I have created a trunk port on VLAN id 300 and a lag group containing 2 ports.

On the Dell switch I have created a

VLAN 300.

Set ports 23/24 to trunk vlan300

Set lag settings to po1 300 pvid

Gone to VLAN membership, selected the vlan300

On the lags I have U which I assume is untagged both for static and current.

On the ports, I have static and F for current.

I am not sure why the F is present, can someone provide some guidance.

    Hello,

F stands for Fiber media (vs copper). Auto-negotiation is Enabled by default for copper ports, disabled for fiber ports. Configuring copper and fiber ports together in an aggregation group is not recommended.

Here is the CLI guide for N-series switches. It is easier to configure the switch using CLI via console connection rather than WEBGUI.

    Dell-Networking-N-Series-Switches-User-Guide-version-6.8.0

    https://dl.dell.com/content/manual20646349-dell-networking-n-series-switches-user-guide-version-6-8-0.pdf?language=en-us

If you want to find a reference for WEBGUI configuration in the guide, you can see

    Using Dell OpenManage Switch Administrator

    @DELL-Charles R

Hi you can see the 23/24 ports with F next to them. This is my issue.

    Hello,

The screenshot helps to see the problem.  “F” on the VLAN membership page means “forbidden”, like you can see on page 760 of the document

    Dell-Networking-N-Series-Switches-User-Guide-version-6.8.0

Forbidden: indicates that the interface is forbidden from becoming a member of the VLAN. This setting is primarily for GVRP, which enables dynamic VLAN assignment.

To remove it out of the forbidden state, you can position on the port and try to Modify the port's state from "Forbidden" to either "Tagged" or "Untagged" depending on your network requirements.

If you look at the document on page 791, from the CLI console connection, you can make sure that you do not have gvrp enabled (no gvrp enable). And then remove the “switchport  general forbidden vlan remove vlan-id” statements from your configuration.

    @DELL-Charles R

Hi Charles thanks for the message.

When I am in the GUI and in that VLAN page, if I toggle, I only get T or F, if I try to set it to T and save the config it just reverts back to U and the F sticks under the U.

    console(config)#show running-config interface Te1/0/23

    channel-group 1 mode active

    description "LAG1"

    switchport mode trunk

    switchport trunk native vlan 300

    switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,300

    console(config)#show running-config interface Te1/0/24

    channel-group 1 mode active

    description "LAG1"

    switchport mode trunk

    switchport trunk native vlan 300

    switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,300

    console(config)#show running-config interface port-channel 1

    description "TO-GARAGE"

    switchport mode trunk

    switchport trunk native vlan 300

    switchport t

    runk allowed vlan 1,300

This is my config. I don't have anything else running. Certainly no GRVP.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Can you do a show tech on the switch configuration, might need to check if any missing configuration.

Also can you let us know the switch firmware version.
