BCM V.92 56K modem

I have a BCM V.92 56K modem installed on my Dell Dimension 2400 computer. The modem worked fine except it did not notify me with rings when I had incoming call. It only gave me a sing sound "ding".  I would like to know how to set the modem so it could notify me with multiple rings. Thanks in advance.

The Modem on Hold Software for this modem (actually the MOH feature is built in to the driver) does not have any user options other than on or off.

How do I determine if my BCM V.92 56K modem is voice/fax/data capable or how can I make it V/F/D capable? Or do I need to buy a different modem.

I am unsure. However, you can probably figure out if you do or not by either looking at your invoice or by using your Service Tag and looking up "Original Configuration" on Dell's website (don't recall exactly how to get there...)

I'm going on a hunch here... If you're not sure, I'm guessing you don't have voice... It is an upgraded modem, and you'd have had to specifically order it.

Non-voice modems cannot (to my knowledge) be made into voice modems. There is no upgrade for the BCM anyway (I have two Dimensions with BCM's). A new modem would be needed. If you do get a new one, many users here recommend a hardware modem as opposed to a 'soft' modem.

Thanks very much. I have looked several times in the places you mentioned but have not found anything definitive. Your email and my prior experience trying to use this modem in voice mode has made me decide that I must buy a new modem. Cheers! All the best.
