Can I have both wired and wireless connections?
Hello,
I currently have 3 pc's at home all sharing internet access. I have a D-link router. I'm planning on buying an Inspirion notebook, that I would like to have wireless access with, I understand I will need a wireless router. I was thinking of buying the Netgear WGR614 Cable/DSL Wireless Router. But will I be able to still have my other 3 pc's hooked up? Or is there a way to hook up the wireless router to my current router? I believe there are 4 ports on it.
I'm new to the the wireless world and don't know if you can have both wired and wireless hooked up to the same router.

Another question I have regarding routers, My 3 pc's all have gigabit ethernet cards in them. And I was checking the different models of wireless routers D-link sells, and one of them was a gigabit gaming router. I didn't know they made gigabit routers, but I was wondering would I achieve faster transfers with that router as opposed to a standard router? Or is using a gigabit ethernet card with a standard router as fast as it will get? I'm just asking about my wired connections. - You will not acheive faster transfers with the wireles part of the network, but the wired part will be able to use the gigabit speed for the local network only (i.e. file transfer between computers wired on the network). There will be no speed increase for the internet connection.Steve

Nearly every wireless router on the market today has 4 ethernet ports. Although you could just add a wireless access point to your current router, access points are much more expensive than wireless routers, so it doesn't make sense to buy an access point.
