Cannot access internet despite showing "connection"
I have three computers on a FIOS connection. Two can connect to internet, but my Inspiron laptop stopped connecting a few days ago. I have tried the LAN connection, wireless connection, and also a separate dial-up connection for laptop, and I can't get to internet through any of them.
My laptop indicates that there is a connection under "Network Connections", but I get "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" when I try to access the internet. It seems like my IP address is not getting into the system.
All of this happened a few days ago when my laptop was trying unsuccessfully to install a Windows XP Service Pack 3 upgrade, but I'm not sure whether that created the problem, or whether the problem caused it to not install.
I have tried all of the standard recommendations from the Dell and Windows diagnostics, but the problem is still there.
To help troubleshoot this problem, on the computer with the problem, go to Start > Run and type cmd then click OK. In the command prompt window that opens, type ipconfig /all then hit the enter key. Write down the output from this command or select it and save it to a txt file, then copy this output into a reply to this message.
