Dell ControlPoint Connection Manager.
I am a 20+ year user of Dell computer products, and have been a huge fan of the Latitude series of notebook computers. I recently purchased a new Latitude E5400 and got my first exposure to the Dell ControlPoint Connection Manager software add-on. Personal opinion ... this is the worst piece of software I have encountered in twenty years of working with a variety of PC products. For starters, what is the point? Why install such a program that disables the network setup of the Windows XP operating system that works just fine. Once a profile is created in this utility there seems to be no way to either edit or delete that profile. I had to go through four iterations of installing the new DSL modem/router software today due to the death of my previous modem, before I was able to get a profile that worked. Took about three hours. I then went to my Dell desktop that does not have this junk code installed and used the normal Windows XP network setup software to configure it to connect to the new modem/router. Took about three minutes. Same thing for my wife's D600 Latitude notebook computer. I have never had such a visceral hatred for a piece of software that from my perspective is a completely useless add-on.
