To clarify this, many phones (RAZR V3 and Treo 700p are at least two examples) can be used via either a USB cable or a Bluetooth connection to provide the same functionality as a standalone card. Many people actually prefer this setup as it means your data plan is an option on your voice plan (and hence can be removed if desired) rather than a seperate contract. Of course, for that reason, providers tend not to publicize such solutions even if they do offer them.

Thanks for the reply. I just find it odd that a system such as the M90 woulds not have a PC slot. My daughter has a Inspirion 8300 and it has one and I can use the Verizon Broadband card fine.

 

I have a Blackberry with Bluetooth and the M90 is bluetooth ready. I was wondering if I could use the two to jump online for a time to retrieve my email. I receive my orders online as I do computer repair and if I am on the road and I get a text message I have to go online to getg the email or another tech gerts it, so that is the reason for wanting email capable while mobile.

not really sure on that.   the express cards are the way things are heading, though I can certainly understand the desire for legacy ports and slots.

      I would suggest you to go in for a dell wireless 5500 broadband minicard(singular) or dell wireless 5700 broadband minicard(verizon)...for ur precision m90..these cards are minicards..which can be installed in the slots inside the system.there is a seperate slot inside the system on the botton where you can install wireless express card and also a seperate slot for the broadband cards...and also you could buy them off dell sales dept..be very specific when you mention abt the card name and number and also the service for the cards are provided by verizon and singular.  And these cards are compatible with your dell precision m90.please do let me know if you still have any questions..always there to help you with the query.

Basically, ExpressCard (the slot that the M90 and all new Dell laptops except for one Latitude model, along with 95%+ of all new laptops from other manufacturers) is the replacement for CardBus/PCMCIA. Unfortunately, service providers are dragging their feet as far as offering broadband adapters in the new format.

There's a good chance your Blackberry may support Blutooth DUN. If it does, you can essentially use it in place of a standalone card-based access solution.
