Dimension 8250 - Ethernet Card Not Recognized After Reformat
I reformatted my PC yesterday and, lo and behold, XP didn't recognize my network card. So, after some trial and error, I took a shot at finding the file on the Dell CD with the device drivers on it. I double clicked to install from the CD and it appeared to go smoothly BUT the big yellow question mark still appears next to the Ethernet Card in my device manager profile. I even rebooted, thinking that might be necessary and still nothing.
In a million years I wouldn't have thought about reinstalling the chip set. Hopefully the file (R41334.exe) is on the CD with the other drivers - because it was too big to download to a floppy from my PC at work.

Did you install the chipset drivers as the first drivers installed after reinstallation of Windows?
