How integrate Inspiron 6000 Wireless in a LAN?

I have a LAN with the following structure:
Internet 1 MB-----> Cable-Módem-------> PC Dimension 8400 with Ethernet Board acting of Server-------> Switch D-Link model. DES-1005 D---------->  2 x PC´s Dimension connected with Ethernet cable to Switch D-Link. In this LAN I can share Internet conection/ Files/Printer among all its components and working very good........
Now, I have bought an Inspiron 6000 with Intel Prowireless 2200 802.11 b/g, and I want to integrate it in this LAN, but utilizing the Wireless option and without modifying the structure of LAN present.
An option, would be to substitute te cable.módem by a Router.Wireless with additional ethernet ports.  Another solution perhaps could be, to mantain the present structure of LAN and to connect a Wireless Point of access to a ethernet port at the outset of the Switch D-Link.
My doubts are the following:
1ª It is the two solutions valid alternatives?
2ª Whit of them is technically and since point of view of performance the best?

I need your support....
Thanks.

You best option would be to replace the switch with a wireless router.  The router will act as a switch for up to 4 ethernet connections and will add the ability to connect 252 more computers by wireless.  It will not change the structure of your LAN excpet to add the wirelesss capability.  It will also eliminate the need to run Internet Connection on your current Host computer.   The modem will connect to the Internet port on the new wireless router and the two PCs along with the one you are currently calling the host will connect to the the router's LAN ports.  One port will still be open.  The router will provide all that is need to share the internet connection.  This assumes that your current modem can connect by ethernet.  If it cannot connect by ethernet, but only by USB, then you will need a new modem, as it is impossible ot find a router that can connect by USB.

Routers from Linksys, Netgear, D-Link, and Belkin get good reports on these forums.  Note there is no need to get the high speed speed (104 Mbps) models of these routers, as they will only work at that high speed if all networks and the router are from the same manufacuter, and will not give any improvement on internet speed, since the fast cable and dsl boardband connections are well under 54 Mbps of standard 802.11g wireless routers.

There is no way that your ISP would know if you were using a router or any other means of internet connection sharing.  I know of no ISP in the U.S. that objects to customers using routers.  They may make you connect directly to the modem to troubleshoot problems and will likely not help you with problems with the router, but otherwise it should be no problem.

Well Steve; I have another question about this theme:

Perhaps my ISP ( Internet Supplier ) can present to me problems if I connect a Router in my Network, by that reason I try to seek a network configuration that do not modify the one that at present have and that carries working 2 years very good and without problems and extra cost with my ISP. Could be a valid and operative option to install, for example, a Linksys Adapter Wirelees PCI Card 802.11G Modell WMP 54G-EU in te Host/Master-PC Dimension 8400?

    I expect your opinion.

    Thanks.
