I8600 & Intel Pro 2100 Mini Wireless -- driver not loading
I have a 4 day old Inspiron 8600 with the internal Intel Pro 2100 Mini Wireless PCI card. After my laptop has been shut down for a day or more, it will boot up without loading the driver for the wireless card.
When I bring up the Intel ProSet settings, it does not list any network components, but I can Fn-F2 and turn the card on and off. It acts like XP does not recognize the card when I boot up with the laptop cold. After the laptop has been up and running for a while, I can restart and it comes up no problem.
I had the same problem until I uninstalled the Pro wireless program and uninstalled the drivers for the card. Windows found it on reboot and has worked fine ever since. Before doing this I had been trying to make it work for 3 weeks.
im having the same problem. downloaded the latest drivers for both the intel card and the latest router firmware already, did the clean uninstall-install cycle and it seems to be ok for now, after the first reboot.
I found this on another post. Go to start, control panel, performance and Maintenance, Find your way to services, Scroll down to wireless zero configuration, Right click and click stop. I tried it and it seems to be working just fine.

I am encountering something very similar with a brand new Inspiron 600m with Intel Pro 2100 Mini Wireless. When I shut down the laptop and start it up again, it does not seem to enable the wireless driver. I need to go to Device Manager (where it shows a yellow exclamation point icon over the driver), disable the driver, and re-enable it. Then it is able to find our network access point and connect. (It is thankfully not necessary to reboot or uninstall and reinstall the driver; however, it's very inconvenient to have to disable and re-enabel the driver every time.)
I have tried various suggestions and the problem persists. I have disabled the Wireless Zero Configuration. I have uninstalled the Intel Pro utility. I have reinstalled the driver for the wireless card numerous times.
