I have a Latitude C600 with a wireless mini pci card installed which XP reports as working. It is noted as disconnected in the network folder and some diagnostic software I used reports that the "radio is disabled"
I tried to use the FnF2 press but that made no difference.
I typed ipconfig /all into a DOS prompt and got
"Windows IP Configuration
Host name........................:Computer-clu1y2
Primary DNS Suffix..........:
Node type..........................:Broadcast
IP Routing Enabled...........:No
WINS Proxy Enabled........:No
Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection 3:
Media State.......................:Media Disconnected
Yep - I tried re-seating it earlier on. XP knows it is there and what it is, drivers up to date, antennae connected. XP seems to know it is there and what it is, Device manager reports it as working but Network Connections shows it as disconnected.
Go to Network Connections and right click on the wireless connection. Is the wireless card disabled there? If so, enable it. Are you sure you are using the Fn F2 key combination correctly? It is not instantaneous, in other word it may take few seconds to turn on or off the radio, so that if you hit the Fn F2 key combination again it will reverse the last instruction you gave wit the Fn F2 key combination
Are you running any firewall software? If so, disable it completely in case it has somehow become misconfigured. Have you tried uninstalling the device in Device Manager and then rebooting and reinstalling the drivers? If you know of any other wireless network that you might have access to and can try to connect to that, it would help to determine if it is a faulty network adapter.
