Hi, I've been browsing the forum trying to find somebody with the same problem without luck.

I have a Dimension 2350 with XP SP3 (NIC is a broadcom 440x integrated). My ISP is Comcast. I have a Motorola SB5120 cable modem and a Linksys wrt54g router.

I can use the network with internet access. But after some time (like 4 or 5 hours) or after a big download or some minutes of watching streamed videos, the connection to the internet is lost. Also the network goes down. I can't even acces my router pages. My pc is connected via cat-5 cable to the router.  I have 2 other computers wirelessly connected and they keep working fine, so I ruled out the router and the modem. I also replaced the cable,  I switched all the ports in the router, I moved the connectors to see if there'a a bad contact in the router or the NIC connectors. Nothing.

The only thing that fixes the connection is restarting Windows.

I tested it in Safe mode with networking and the same thing happened.

If the NIC is integrated, can it be physically damaged without damaging something else on the motherboard? I already ordered a 10/100 PCI ethernet card for $3.99.

Is there anything else I can do to find what's going on with my connection?
