network keeps getting connected then disconnected every 30 sec or so
My network cable is connected and is fine but every 30 sec or so I get a message saying that "the network cable is disconnected" then connects back again 2 sec later. Do you know the cause of problem? I dont think its physical because when I check the cable its fully connected. Please advise. Thanks
Sorry i have Inspiron 8600 1.7Mhz WUXGA 512MB RAM 128MB ATI RADEON 60GIG 7200RPM.. network card is broadcam 100x/10x network LAN card.. I have the wireless card but currently connected with the cable lan wire... What other information do you need? Is there any way to run a diagnostic to figure out if its because of driver (already tried re installing the drivers), physical cable (already checked cable connection and its secure and not unplugged), etc. Please help - thanks.,
Go to Control panel-Network and Internet connections- Network Connections - Right click on LAN Broadcom (enabled) then click on properties. Click on configure- go to advanced - you'll something in there that says Duplex mode or network media.. etc and when you click on value, it'll have 100Full Duplex, 100half duplex, 10full and 10half. Choose 10half duplex. Click ok - ok - ok.
Im having the same problems recently. I have a relatively new Inspiron 600m, with an Intel Pro wireless LAN 2100 3a mini pc adapter, and a Linksys 2.4 ghz router 'b' model. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have the same issuew on an 8100 with an Actiontec NIC which i recently upgraded to XP Pro. At first I was constantly gettin a cable disconnected message then I switched to 1/2 duplex and now I'm getting the alternating connected/disconnected message. What do I try next, I've tried servral cables so I know thats not the problem. I'm using a DLink DI-604. FWIW, I took the laptop to work and it connected with no problems to the company network.
I had some success with Krytons suggestions above then got disconnected. Called the support line for my router suppler (Linsys) who walked me through some reconfiguring and resetting and all has been good since. You might want to call DLink to reconfig your router.
