short network disconnections!
Hi!
I got a Dim 3000, since 2 weeks back, I play lots of on-line games and have discovered that every 30 min or sometimes more often my connection to the net is disconnecting, just for 5- 20 sec at the time but still its very annoying when playing games. I know its not the games doing it cuz no-one else is being disconnected and it never happend with my old computer. Is it a software program that does this or is it a hardware thing? How can i fix this?

No I got broadband, always connected, but i got to thinking mayby its the switch that conflicts with my new dell computer!?!You mentioned a "switch". It would be helpful to know what the setup is that you use to connect to your DSL service, but if you're talking about a router, they frequently have a setting that is used to periodically re-establish your connection and assign a new IP address to you. Your noticing that it occurs every 30 minutes can be a symptom of this. This setting is problematic to a lot of people (including me) and can be turned off. If you're using a router, check the documentation.

first, sorry I am not good with names, im from sweden the definisions are sometimes diffrent ( dsl=broadband) =)second, its not a router i got a D-link ethernet switch , i know the problem is somewhere in this new computer cuz the other 2 computers in this house works perfectly as did my old pc..could it be that this new pc just dont have a good network-card which can handle the kind of traffic I put it to?? (its a built-in motherboard, on the other hand so was my old and the other 2 pc)Ohmega Muu

im really started to think swedish vs american definitions are completly difrent!! what we call broadband is maybe what u call cable.. there is no modem involved and my net-provider gives 5 diffrent ip adresses, and as i´ve said earlier, until 2 weeks ago when i still had my old pc.. i think its probebly as confussing for me to explain my problem as it is for u to understand hehe =)
