Software to configure wireless network

I'm trying to setup a new wireless network. The router appears to be working, but when I try to "view the available wireless networks" I get an error the windows can not configure this connection and if I have software or another program to manage the wireless connection, I should use that...

How can I find out if I have software to configure a wireless network. The error message also directs me to microsoft.com article #871122 - which basically says if I have software to configure the wireless network I should use that, otherwise go through a bunch of steps to try to reinstate the "Wireless Zero Configuration service". Is there Dell software that manages a wireless connection that I need to use to set this up?

I have a Inspiration 600m with Centrino (Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3A).

I'm new at this, any help is appreciated!

This article should help and, no, you do not need any other software.  Everything is native to Windows

You should be ablt to hit the setup page at http://192.168.0.1 with a username of admin with no password.

Changing the settings should be fairly easy from there.  The Netgear link is here:

Get an Ethernet cord and connect via wires to set it up then disconnect.   If you have already done that, then the settings on your card do not match those on the router.  Check to see if the SSID name is the same along with any encryption you may have set.  The first article I posted is a good resource for setting up a router.

    Thanks...

I ended up finding the Wireless Zero Configuration. Somehow this got turned off or wasn't activate(maybe in my SP2 "upgrade"). Once I found it - My Computer/Manage/Service - and activate it, all went well.

your wireless card comes with it's own software. If your computer is using it it will be in the all programs listed as Dell True Mobile Software or it may say Utility. If you want Windows to configure your wireless all you have to do is:
    Start
My computer Icon right click and go to Manage
click on it and then when the window opens
look for Services and Applications click on this
look for Services and click then look in the list
for Wireless Zero Configuration double click on this
under the General tab look about half way down
and make sure it's set to start Automatic
then click on the start button then click OK and close
everything out.now Windows will manage your wireless configuration

    HI

I finally got my problem resolved after being on the phone with Dell for 3 hours.

They determined that I had the access box checked in the access wireless card area

so I put in my mac address and it all worked and I now have complete security

    thanks to all

No, not complete security, but fairly secure.

Well after getting that to work I then put on the WPA-psk security

I heard that is better than wep with 128 bit encyrption is that right?
