Usb Modem Huawei E172 with Dell D830, installation problem
Hi ,
I have a Dell D830 and I'm trying to install the Vodafone Usb Modem Huawei E172.
I think the problem is that the hardware does not install correctly in the hardware wizard. When i insert it in the usp port, the computer finds new hardware but when it try to install the CD-ROM driver, everything stop.
In the device-manager i get DVD/ CD Rom drives: "CD-ROM Drive" instead of "Huawei Mass Storage Device" as I have in my old Notebook
After that when I try to shut down the notebook, it doesn't work properly and i have to push the start button to reset it.
I think it's a driver problem but I'm not sure which driver do I have to upload.
You might need to look at the directions for installing the modem. In the vast majority of cases you start the install from the CD and follow the prompts as to when to plug in the device. That may very well be the case here also.

I don't have any CD only che Usb Moden key, when I inserted it in my old PC and in my friends PC, it install the software and starts working properly.
With my new notebook that doesn't work.
The drivers in the device manager are not correct, but I don't know how to fix it.
