VMware network adaptors
I recently bought a used dell mini 10 and notice that there are four items listed in the Network connections of My Computer - one is the Local Area Connection, one is the wireless connection, and two are VMware network adaptors (VMnet1 and VMnet8) both of which I have disabled as I do not know what they are. Can anyone tell me what these are for and if I should leave them enabled, disabled, or remove them? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Most likely whoever you bought the laptop from installed the VMware virutal PC application which created the "virtual" network adapters (Sun's Virtualbox application does this too). You could look through the Add/Remove Programs section of the Control Panel to see if you see anything installed referencing VMware and uninstall it and it should remove those NIC's.
Better bet if you have the ability to reinstall the OS and applications would be to do a fresh wipe and reload of the laptop to guarantee you don't have anything else "hidden" on there that may bite you later.
