Wireless connection iffy

Something is wrong between my computer and my wireless router. Sometimes it works great but disconnects often, and other times I can't even get a signal, both underneath the same exact conditions. However, when my computer DOES get a signal, it shows that it's a very strong connecting, saying that it can't be an obstruction (?). Do I have something configured wrong? Is it just an obstruction? PLEASE help!

Router: Dell Wireless 2350 Broadband Router
Adapter: Dell Wireless USB adapter
Desktop: Dell Dimension 4800 Desktop

It could be the USB (somewhere on Dell Talk I believe someone said they may not work all that well). Have you considered a PCI card in your desktop system instead of the USB wireless?

I'd go with that as well, however after just 3 weeks of using wireless I have to say its pretty useless sometimes, I have a Belkin Router with a 3com WiNIC and it's always disconnecting plus I have to run the 3com prog everytime I boot up just to get a connection (I intend to email 3com soon and find the cure) apart from that the file transfer rate is slow and even though I sit 15 feet from the router I never get a %100 signal.

If you can stand being wired then stick with it.
