Hello to Paladin and all the rest of you nice people. I have that WJView problem. I performed a search in your forum and tried to go through the steps you suggested to fix the problem, however, it won't let me. Every time I try to run msconfig or regedit it says another program is currently using this file. Does this mean I have to reinstall my operating system?
To be honest, this is the first time hearing about WJView, but with some judicious googling I am now educated.
Are you following the procedure outlined in this MSKB article? If so and you are having problems, try booting into Safe Mode. To do that, shut down your PC and wait a few moments. Restart it and start tapping the F8 key. You should receive a text menu screen and one of the options will be to boot in Safe Mode. The screen resolution will look quite strange, but that's as it should be. Then follow the procedure in the MSKB article. Once you are done with the registry edit, restart the computer in the normal manner.
I'm sorry I haven't responded until now however, I did discover I had that dreaded Zafi.B worm that resurfaced on June 11, I guess I was one of the first to get zapped. It literally took over my computer in the sense that my norton and za were disabled, on June 12 before noon I could not send emails but could receive, and finally on June 13 before noon I could not access any site on the net. It was on June 13 around 10:30 am that I discovered the dreaded worm in many locations and by then I guess it was too late and I lost the net before I could even try to remove it. For your information, it was Panda Activescan that found the worm, while all other scans did not. That leads me to believe that they are more current (I'm a novice what can I say) however, I also discovered that you need at least 2 different spyware/trojan/worm/ programs to detect this stuff. My Norton had run a complete scan on June 11, in the morning and all was fine. By night, all hell broke loose. My updates were all current. For now, I'm simply reinstalling all my programs and hope I have better luck.
I to was having this problem, and some others but thats besides the point right now, Ive been through everything and just about everyone (meaning techs), Ive also done some research on this subject all by myself, so how "I" got rid of this problem was using "Spybot"!! Ive had this program for as long as I had my computer, Ive rarely ever used it, since I was thinking Im careful, but who knew it would come in handy especially in the time of dire need! I updated it since it wasnt in use for so long, after that I used it and it FIXED my problem, thats the truth! No techs helped me in what I needed, and since I didnt have the money to pay for it, cause they charge a high price per incident and an outrageous price to buy service for a year!! So with alot of reading around and a simple solution, I fixed it! ME!
Sooooooo if your still having this problem send me a chat or whatevers or just download Spybot, its a free download, yeps its free!
